| Some years ago five musicians had the rather special
idea to replay the music of the fabulous fifties. Quoting Frank Zappa who
once said “Rock’n Roll ain’t dead , it just smells funny”, they decided
to give new life to the songs of Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Eddie
Cochran, Chuck Berry and last not least of Elvis. Though there aim was
never the mere imitation of the old masters , they tried to take their
audience on a trip to the fifties working hard on their looks, their sound
and the atmosphere.
Long tall Mulles is playing the six string as well as Electro-Dan who isn’t less long and tall by the way….Together with the vibrating rhythms originated by Arsène on double bass and Guy on drums, they create the ideal sound for their singer, who by chance or premonition was born to be called Alvis. Rock’n’ Roll is a dangerous business and so short after launching the band, the five rockabilly cats had to interrupt their tour because of a broken hand and other serious medical problems. But here they are again, better than ever, The Convertibles, Luxembourg’s finest Rock’n Roll band. In the meantime they have started writing their own songs, a great mixture of Rock’n Roll, Swing and other fine bits of music. Don’t miss them: you’ll be under their spell! |
