Vocalist Steve Colin had just left the band 'Backyard', two years after their released CD 'The importance of The meaningless' in 1994. Guitarist Patrick Piticco, meeting Steve Colin in 1996 and early showing interest in joining Backyard, finally got in touch with keyboarder Laurent Schleck, who was about to form a musicband with drummer Patrick Ramponi and guitarist Michel Blanc. Patrick Piticco and Steve Colin signed in and with the arrival of bassist Piquet Jung, Syrinx soon gave their debut gig in the Shakesbeer, small concert pub in Luxemburg City.

Their music, based on rock and including gothic sounds and progressive rhythms, got promising critics. After a few gigs in the capital city, the band participated on an each year organized contest festival in Luxemburg, Dudelange. By playing their first official contest, the band was quoted third place of eight participating bands. Meanwhile, the drummer Patrick Ramponi had been replaced by Polo Santos, former drummer of Backyard. After some other gigs a break came for Syrinx.

In 1998, Laurent Schleck began to compose music for different theater performances in Luxemburg. Nowadays, he still shows enthusiasm and ambitions in writing and composing soundtracks for theater performances taking place in and around Luxemburg.   During that time, only rehearsals and new songwriting took place as rhythm guitarist Michel Blanc quit the band and vocalist Steve Colin was temporarely replaced by Dan Balthasar.

In 1999, Steve Colin began the songwriting for his first solo album, which was recorded in the year 2000. Partly involved in the songwriting was Buffer Overflow musician Patrick Dickes, who also recorded and engineered the debut solo album entitled ‘the reason’. 

SYRINX rejoined by Steve Colin returned playing live on stage in june 2000 with the appearance on the ‘Who’s the one’- Festival in Obercorn, Luxemburg. Again the band reached third place. Since then the band is playing gigs again regularly in and around Luxemburg. In October 2000 drummer David Gawlik became new member of the band. SYRINX started again playing some gigs in popular pubs of Luxemburg, performing songs of the setlist from 1997, new material from the band and some of the tracks taken over from the vocalists’ soloalbum. This album is yet not out and planned for april 2001 but the single NG COLIN ‘the one EP’, taken from the album, is available since february 2001.

Drummer David Gawlik started a paralell musicproject with friend Wataru Takagi, the ‘Gawlik Takagi Project’ and they have reached the semifinals of emergenza too. SYRINX is participating on the preselections of the Bilborock Festival in Bilbao, Spain.

They still play gigs  in Luxemburg regularly and the band plans to give some concerts in Belgium, Germany and France. 

First promotional CD from march to june 2001, Patrick Dickes, who worked together with Steve Colin on the album ‘the reason’ will be involved in the recording and engineering of SYRINX’s debut album. The album will contain songs from the setlist of 1997 and new material of the band.
